Post-Christmas campaign to promote the new Samsung S Series phones by offering a free Galaxy Watch Active
The challenge
Between the Christmas and New Year period, Samsung wanted to maintain their brand presence in the market and drive sales on their flagship S Series phones. Utilising a post-Christmas ‘get active over winter’ message, Samsung aimed to promote its Galaxy Watch Active as a free gift with purchase. This sales promotion strategy would enable them to avoid eroding their smartphone price position with costly discounts. As a dual product promotion, it would also showcase the benefits of the Samsung Watch Active range and its corresponding Samsung Health app.
Using health and sports technology to promote their phones was a first for Samsung. Opia was tasked with the challenge of creating a unique and imaginative sales promotion that would resonate with their audience at this time of year and create a sense of novelty.
The solution
With an increasing number of people now using smartwatches to track their health and activity, Samsung harnessed this opportunity to showcase the benefits of synching their Watch Active to their smartphones. Customers could experience how it delivered an improved user experience and offered enhanced capabilities of the new S Series, far beyond it being just a phone. Our Gift with Purchase promotion also gave customers insight into the S Series’ fantastic new features and the technology available in Samsung’s wearables range.
